Rodríguez, 28, who has an average fastball speed of 93 mph, will join a Detroit course expected to include Casey Mize and Tarik Skubal in a team that finished third at AL Central in 77-85, 16 games behind the Chicago White Sox. Boston made him a eligible bid of $18.4 million and he will receive an additional pick in the amateur draft next year if the deal with the Tigers is finalized.
