“In celebration of our 30 years together as a family and as a community… we are announcing 30 grants (to 30 organizations) in recognition of 30 years,” DeVos said. “And for the total amount of grants that will be awarded — over the next 18 months or so — and announced is $3 million.”
DeVos announced that the first beneficiary will be the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation.
“We think this is a good way to ramp up the activity and the initiative so that … they can then take the contribution we give them and then deploy more organizations,” he said.
DeVos said Magic has already identified several nonprofit organizations that will receive these grants, but said the organization is still working to “finish” the 29 groups that will be awarded.
“We still understand that more help is needed, which is why we want to work with (these non-profits) and work with them as we said to help them even do more good,” he said.
