East Rutherford, New Jersey The New York Giants have fired offensive coordinator Jason Jarrett after a shocking performance in a nationally televised game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Giants (3-7) tweeted the decision Tuesday afternoon, saying the former Dallas Cowboys coach had been relieved of his duties.

There was no immediate word on who would replace Jarrett in Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6). Former Cleveland Browns coach Freddy Kitchens is on the staff and could take over.

Jarrett was appointed last year shortly after Joe Judge was appointed as head coach.

The Giants (3-7) were embarrassed Monday night, dropping their 30-10 decision to the Bucs. The judge said the team has too many good players who can’t score, which indicates changes are coming.

New York scored 189 points this season. He struggled in the red and in five of his seven losses he collected 65 points.

The Giants’ first 15 defeats of the season were the lowest and lowest since they lost 14 to Cleveland last December 20. They have lost 31 first defeats in their last two games, including 16 in the win over Las Vegas on November 7.

New York rushed for 66 yards, the second lowest total of the season. The Giants ran for 60 yards in their season-opening loss to Denver. The 24:21 New York possession time was a season short.

Crime has been devastated by injuries, particularly on the goal line. Midfielder Nick Gates (broken tibia) and left goalkeeper Shane Lemieux (knee) have played two matches and one in a row. Notable left tackle Andrew Thomas has missed matches with foot and ankle injuries, goalkeeper Will Hernandez and Nate Solder on the right flank this season, a new side for them.
