ABU DHABI – The NBA is organizing two pre-season games in Abu Dhabi next season, which is the first time that the league plays in the Arabian Gulf.

The matches will take place in October 2022. The exact dates and participating teams have not been announced.

No pre-season games have been played outside North America since 2019 due to the pandemic, although the league has said for several months that it aims to return to outdoor matches in 2022.

“Abu Dhabi is a vibrant multicultural center with a proven track record of hosting world-class sporting events,” said NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, who was in Abu Dhabi to sign the league’s multi-year agreement with tourism officials there.
