Travis threw for 3 TDs, Florida Postponed BC, 26-23
Jordan Travis threw three touchdowns for 251 yards and held Florida State Boston College in its grounds in the final two minutes for a 26-23 win on Saturday.
A week after recovering from an eight-point deficit in the final five minutes to beat rival Miami, the Seminoles (5-6, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) took a 23-point lead before locking in a win away. Than to qualify for the pot.
Travis completed 20 of 34 passes without interceptions, connecting to three different receivers for results.
After starting his quintet day last Saturday with a win at Georgia Tech—three lunges and two throws—BC QB Phil Jurkovec went in 10 of 24 for 148 yards with a TD and INT. Carry 17 times for 59 yards with a score.
Pat Jarrow III scored a scoring streak for the Eagles (6-5, 2-5).
The Seminoles led 19-3 in the first half and scored in the first round of the second half when Malik McClain made a jump pass from Travis’ pass in the back of the end zone.
BC then scored two TDs – failing a two-point conversion in the first – in just over 3 minutes early in the fourth, and snapped it 26-23 on Jurkovec’s 36-yard TD pass to Zay Flowers.
BC turned fourth and second from 43 with just over 4½ minutes ago, but Achim Dent made a desperate Yorkvik pass as QB was dropping to the ground under pressure in the Seminoles 25 in the fourth and 8th with 1:42 left.
Florida State pressured, hit, or ejected Jurkovec almost every time he fell back to pass the first inning, limiting the Eagles to just 95 yards.
In Seminole’s second possession of the match, Travis found Ontaria Wilson with a 16-yard shot to make it 7-0.
Lawrence Toffeli took a swing pass from Travis near 5 and hit it for a score, increasing it to 14-3.
Florida State: The Seminole offense was very effective again, 4-4 in the red, bringing the total number of conversions to 29 consecutive conversions. It’s their best streak since 31 in a row during a period covering the 2016-2017 seasons.
Boston College: The Eagles seemed a slow move defensively. It’s something they’ll need to find out quickly with the Wake Forest’s powerful deck attack.
