Live rodents were found inside a Jacksonville restaurant

Jacksonville, Florida. Dozens of rodent droppings were among the reasons two restaurants closed in Northeast Florida last week, with an inspector even finding live rodents in one restaurant, according to Florida professional and business regulatory records.

Time Out Sports Grill on Beach Boulevard

Time Out Sports Grill at Hodges Plaza has been closed for more than 15 violations, according to an inspection report.

In a recent inspection, the report said, an inspector found 54 droppings of rodents, 47 of which were under access coolers, and below and above a pizza oven. The report said there were live rodents moving on the sticky trap between the sink and the freezer during an inspection of the restaurant.

According to the report, there were also live, small and flying insects in the kitchen next to the food preparation area, food storage area and/or bar area.

The restaurant also received a fine for not separating raw food items properly, but this was fixed during the inspection, according to the report.

Sonny’s BBQ in Palm Coast

An inspection report showed Sonny’s BBQ off Cypress Edge Drive closed after an inspection on November 10, also due to rodent droppings.

According to the report, 69 droppings were found on the lower shelves of a preparation table by the dining window, on a cutting board on a shelf and elsewhere around the restaurant.

The report said the responsible person began vacuuming and sterilizing during the inspection.
