Florida teen shot after aiming gun at officers


Tarpon Springs, Florida. Police shot a teen in Tarpon Springs on Saturday night after he aimed an Airsoft rifle at drivers and officers.

The 17-year-old was reported to have been driving around aiming his military pistol at passing drivers. When the officers arrived on the scene in the area of ​​Tarpon Street, the young man continued to point the gun at the officers.

The officers opened fire on the boy 12 times. As soon as they approached him, they realized he was carrying an airsoft rifle, which shoots plastic BB. The teenager was given first aid and he was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The officers involved are now on administrative leave as part of the officer involved in the shooting. The Pinellas County School District has sent a letter to students offering support during this difficult time.

The teen was a grade 11 student at Tarpon Springs High School.
